On the Orthodox Union’s Daf Yomi web site, there are two powerhouse lecturers, each teaching a page of Talmud every single day.
Rabbi Moshe Elefant, COO of OU Kosher, is the originator of the OU’s Daf Yomi. He also delivers the popular Daf Sugya Shiur, delving deeper into a variety of topics that arise during the course of regular Daf Yomi study.
Rabbi Shalom Rosner is a renowned teacher who also delivers acclaimed lectures on the weekly Torah portion and the books of Nach (the Books of the Prophets and the Writings). Rabbi Rosner’s Nach shiur is currently studying the Book of Isaiah.
Between them, Rabbi Elefant and Rabbi Rosner teach the daily daf to thousands upon thousands of students from around the world. Now, for the first time, daf yomi aficionados have the opportunity to learn from both of these master educators together, in person.
On January 15, 2017, the Orthodox Union will be hosting Torah in the City, indoors at Citi Field. This inspiring day of Torah learning and thought-provoking discussion features thirty Torah scholars who will be addressing timely topics of interest, including Religious Zionism, birth control and family planning, women and Torah transmission, the fundamental belief in the revival of the dead, and whether Judaism is a religion of violence, among many other compelling subjects.
As part of this extraordinary gathering, both Rabbi Rosner and Rabbi Elefant will be teaching the daily daf; Rabbi Rosner will deliver the regular daily daf shiur and Rabbi Elefant will deliver the daf b’iyun (in-depth). Then, in an unprecedented event, these two scholars will jointly present a special session on learning how to teach daf yomi.
