This Year, Chag at Home

2020 has been an exceptional year, and we don’t mean that in a good way. Nevertheless, despite all the trials we have endured, the Jewish community has done an exceptional job of rising to the challenge (and we do mean that one in the good sense!).

A large portion of our constituency reports that they have been hardest hit by the impact of community lockdowns on our shuls. Even with many shuls now open, the upcoming Days of Awe promise to be complicated (and less than ideal), given the various restrictions in place and the inability of certain congregants to attend out of health concerns.

One of the ways that OU Torah Initiatives responded to our community’s needs was with the acclaimed “Sinai at Home” program. Those who were not able to attend live Shavuos programming – which was pretty much all of us – were able to print out their choice from dozens of educational packets to learn on Shavuos night.

Now, in anticipation of a most irregular yom tov season, OU Torah Initiatives is proud to present Chag at Home, a way for all of us to get our holiday inspiration in this pandemic era.

Like Sinai at Home, Chag at Home features dozens of packets of educational material – articles, source sheets, family discussions, and more – to enable individuals of all levels and backgrounds to enjoy a meaningful Torah experience in the absence of their usual shiurim and drashos.

Available areas of study include relevant packets on tefillah, Tanach, halacha, machshava and more. There’s material to learn with children of all ages, as well as with family members with special needs. Presenters include an incredible array of educators. Among these are such acclaimed teachers as Rabbi Moshe Hauer, Rabbi Meir Goldwicht, Rabbi Yosef Zvi Rimon, Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter, Dr. Rivkah Blau, Rabbi David Aaron, Rebbetzin Tzipora Weinberg, Rabbi Gil Student and many, many more.

Chag at Home materials will be available for all of the Tishrei holidays: Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Succos and Simchas Torah. So check it out – and be sure to come back closer to yom tov as more material is being added regularly!
