Taking (Jewish) Action

The Summer 5771 issue of the OU’s Jewish Action magazine is here, with a cover story on teens entitled, “Getting Their Attention.” Among the articles on this topic, Rabbi Steven Burg, International Director of NCSY, writes on “Keeping Our Kids on the Derech,” while “Reaching the iPod Generation” includes vignettes from OU staff writer extraordinaire Bayla Sheva Brenner and eight NCSY Regional Directors. You’ll also find excerpts from Senator Joseph Lieberman‘s upcoming book from OU Press, a fascinating interview with the author of the hugely popular book “The Prime Ministers,” my own synopsis of an important and influential speech delivered by Rav Joseph B. Soloveitchik, and much, much more.

One of the things that makes us most proud of Jewish Action is that is unique, printing articles of wide interest to the Orthodox community, not concentrating primarily on reports of organizational events. For example, I urge you to read and carefully consider Dr. Simcha Katz‘s piece on the tuition crisis, which has already sparked much interest and comment.

We congratulate editor Nechama Carmel and assistant editor Anna Sanders (who, sadly, left the OU after this issue). We also thank the aforementioned senior writer Bayla Sheva Brenner, who contributes much of the content, Yocheved Lefkovits, who designed the cover, and Carrie Beylus and Malka Braun, who handle the hidden, behind-the-scenes business end of Jewish Action.
