As an April Fools’ prank, a Twitter account managed by the Israeli government trolled Roger Waters, the famously anti-Israel co-founder of the band Pink Floyd. 4IL, an account run by Israel’s Ministry of Strategic Affairs and Public Diplomacy, announced that Waters would be playing a concert in Tel Aviv in July.
Waters was not amused, replying in all capital letters, “HO! (expletive deleted) HO! EXCEPT THIS IS NO LAUGHING MATTER.”
An outspoken critic of Israel, Waters is known for publicly harassing other performers who are scheduled to visit or perform there. Earlier this year, he joined others in calling upon the BBC to boycott the upcoming Eurovision song contest in Tel Aviv; the BBC declined to acquiesce.
