A number of Montreal residents are wearing square yellow badges to protest the private, Jewish school buses in their neighborhood. Ginette Chartre, a representative for the protesters, refused to stop wearing the badges even after being informed that they evoke the yellow stars that the Nazis forced Jews to wear in the years leading up to the Holocaust.
“[The Jews] always bring up their painful past,” she said. “They do it to muzzle us. We’re wearing the yellow square because the school buses are yellow. … We are living an injustice. We are being persecuted by them.”
