Israel Offers Assistance in Aftermath of Sri Lanka Bomb Attacks

At least 207 people were killed and hundreds more were wounded in a series of bomb attacks that hit luxury hotels and churches across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday. The first six bomb blasts occurred almost simultaneously – four in the capital of Colombo, with others in Negombo and Batticaloa. A seventh and eighth explosion occurred later. About 35 of the victims were identified as “foreigners,” including American, British and Dutch citizens.

In a statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed “deep shock over the murderous attacks against innocent civilians in Sri Lanka.” He continued that “Israel stands ready to assist the authorities in Sri Lanka at this difficult time” and that “The entire world must unite in the battle against the scourge of terrorism.”
