Elsewhere around the OUniverse

There’s so much going on all around the OU. Here’s just a smattering of recent news and accomplishments.

• The IPA welcomes their second 2011-12 Legislative Fellow, Gabriel Aronson. A Baltimore native, Gabe holds a recently-earned Master’s in public policy from Johns Hopkins. Welcome, Gabe – we look forward to working with you!
• The latest issue of Jewish Action is out and the cover story is the tenth anniversary of 9/11. There are many moving articles and tributes. The online edition of the magazine can be accessed here.
• The OU applauds the Department of Homeland Security for awarding $19 million in security grants to non-profit organizations, including many Jewish institutions. You can read all about it here.
• We’ve spoken in the past about the wonderful work that NCSYers do, traveling around the country with NECHAMA to assist in the aftermath of natural disasters. Most recently, New Jersey NCSYers stayed home for a change to assist those affected by Hurricane Irene. You can read the full story here.
• At the request of military chaplains, the OU is sending 300 copies of The NCSY Bencher to Jewish troops in Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq and Korea in time for the High Holy Days. Morehere.
