I hope that Chanukah was as joyous for all members of the OU family as it was for me. I was privileged to attend the White House Chanukah party with OU President Stephen J. Savitsky, Senior VP Allen Fagin and IPA Director Nathan Diament. Aside from meeting the president, this invitation provided us with two unique opportunities: we were able to meet candidly with Ambassador Michael Oren and with Congressman Brad Sherman.
Our meeting with Ambassador Oren revealed many layers and dimensions in the relationship between the governments of the US and Israel. The two administrations face numerous challenges but likewise numerous opportunities.
Since the 1980s, Congressman Sherman has spearheaded initiatives pertaining to Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He provided us with great insight into the greatest existential threat facing Israel today.
