Grant?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Through the Challenge Grant, the OU Women\u2019s Initiative challenged synagogues nationwide to develop plans for innovative programming that addresses needs of the women in their respective communities.<\/li>\n<li>Grant applications were evaluated based on the creativity, target audience, and how replicable the project would be in other communities.<\/li>\n<li>The Women\u2019s Initiative received 93 applications for the Challenge Grant and selected 16 recipients.<\/li>\n<li>Grant recipients will receive $5000 to support their proposed projects.<\/li>\n<li>In an effort to gauge progress and effectiveness, all Challenge Grant programs will be evaluated throughout the year by the Women\u2019s Initiative.<\/li>\n<li>Grant recipients are committed to serving as an \u201cadvisor synagogue\u201d to other synagogues and institutions that are interested in replicating the program in their own communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h2>Challenge Grant Recipients:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Congregation Keter Torah, Teaneck, NJ<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ketertorah.org\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/godaven.com\/images\/avatar\/387topbanner.jpg\" width=\"219\" height=\"53\" \/><\/a><\/strong>The\u00a0<strong>Women\u2019s Beit Medrash in Halacha and Gemara<\/strong>\u00a0is a learning program that includes chevrutot and shiurim for both beginners and advanced learners on an array of topics.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Young Israel Toco Hills, Atlanta, GA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.yith.org\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-326 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/women\/files\/2018\/06\/YI_Toco-Hills-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"140\" height=\"102\" \/><\/a>The\u00a0<strong>Women&#8217;s Seder Avodat Yamim Noraim<\/strong>\u00a0is a program designed to create the environment necessary for women to prepare themselves spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually for the Yamim Noraim.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keneseth Beth Israel, Richmond, VA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kbirichmond.com\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kbirichmond.com\/6c72a6bf-6f7a-4bdb-961a-050e469cc9a4.png\" width=\"140\" height=\"131\" \/><\/a><strong>Tools for Life<\/strong>\u00a0is a program based on the three pillars of emunah as described by Rav Yosef Elbo in Sefer Halkrim, that is directed toward Jewish women of all ages and educational backgrounds, providing them with Torah-based tools that can help them better connect to HaShem, Torah learning, and the community.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Westwood Kehilla,\u00a0Los Angeles, CA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Inspired Leadership for Women<\/b>, through the hiring of a part-time female employee dedicated\u00a0toward efforts for the women of the community, will increase women&#8217;s programming, participation, and leadership in synagogue maintain and fortify the community in the wake of Hurricane Harvey &#8211; the third flood to hit the United Orthodox Synagogues (UOS) community.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Congregation Agudath Sholom, Stamford, CT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.congregationagudathsholom.org\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/ih.constantcontact.com\/fs174\/1101999022021\/img\/255.gif\" width=\"141\" height=\"70\" \/><\/a><strong>Transmitting Torah: By Women&#8230;For Women <\/strong>is a program designed to create a vibrant community of women in both beginners and an advanced tracks, to study together as a cohort and prepare d&#8217;vrei Torah and shiurim throughout the course of the year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Young Israel of Hollywood &#8211; Ft.
