Avital Chizhik-Goldschmidt is a journalist living in New York City and the Director of Media Strategy for the OU. Her essays have appeared in the New York Times, Salon, Tablet, and the Forward, and she is a frequent contributor to Haaretz. Her fiction has received recognition from the Atlantic Monthly, Moment Magazine and the National YoungArts Foundation. Avital teaches journalism at Yeshiva University’s Stern College for Women, and does pastoral work alongside her husband Rabbi Benjamin Goldschmidt in Manhattan’s Park East Synagogue.
