I. Textbooks – The State Board of Education may enter into an agreement with a private nonprofit school to provide special textbooks and instructional aids for the instruction of blind or visually impaired students, if state funds, other than for administrative costs, are not involved. Tex. Education Code Ann. §31.028©.

II.  Auxiliary Services:

  • Handicapped Aid – Local districts may contract out special needs services to private facilities.
  • Health Aid – The Department of Health may provide materials and personnel for the screening of vision and hearing disorders as well as for detecting abnormal spinal curvature

III.  Transportation – Street railways or motor buses operating in cities of not less than 20,000 inhabitants are required to sell tickets to children attending private schools for one-half of the adult fare when school is in session.
