WORD OF THE MONTH

A weekly feature of Torah Tidbits to help clarify practical and conceptual aspects of the Jewish Calendar, thereby better fulfilling the mitzva of HaChodesh HaZeh Lachem...

This Shabbat we bench Rosh Chodesh Sh'vat, which will be IY"H on Monday. Since Tevet always has 29 days in our fixed calendar, Rosh Chodesh Sh'vat is always one day only. It can fall on all days of the week except Sunday and Friday. TU BiShvat is always the same day of the week, two weeks later.
