This week's column prepared by madrich Ari Gordon
This Tuesday, NESTO saw the Bubbis and Zeidis of the world unite, as we all got together for Senior Bingo. The evening started with a tap...tap...tap of walkers and canes. No, NESTO has not expanded its age range, but rather NESTOites tried to depict what they would look like in five or six decades from now, and they acted accordingly.

However, cardigan sweaters and oversized handbags were not the sole purpose of our gathering, but rather it was to play the age-old classic that we all love, BINGO. We met in the TYC as Izzy (Yosef) recounted his memories of the "Old Country," and how he invented the hula-hoop. DV, convinced that he would keep his figure, knew that in sixty years, his hair would be much longer. Beatrice, Henrietta, and Flo took care of refreshments and interruptions. Meanwhile, all of us powdered our hair and prepared for the bingo game of the century. Those NESTOites who did not get all dolled up acted as "kinderlach" to make the evening more real. After a half hour of catching up on old times and "a bissel nosh," we were ready for a freiliche game. When everyone was seated, and Harry (Josh) was detained, cards and markers (compliments of Fretta) were distributed. The game began with a G42, followed by a B17. Next, Kate called out "I27," to which we all responded, "We wish we weretwenty-seven After a few more numbers, BINGO! rang out through the Zula, followed by another ominous BINGO!!! Shouts of BINGO! continued as NESTOites came up to claim their invaluable prizes. Among the prizes were slinkies, sponges, sardines, slippers, feather-dusters, etc. As joy turned into jubilation, cards were filled and cashed in. People complained that the evening had to come to an end, and that they wished that they could be old again. No one came out of Tuesday night the same way that they went in. With their lives changed forever, and a new handle on life, NESTOites called the evening a "Smashing success."

In other news, NESTO is pleased to announce our awesome Chanuka party/tiyul planned for December 11-12, the second and third days of Chanuka. Festivities will begin with candle lighting in the TYC at 7:30pm and will continue through the night with Latke and Donut Making. The next morning we will be heading to Beit Guvrin where we will get down and dirty and dig into the Land of Israel in the hopes of uncovering some precious antique item. For reservations call Naomi or email Josh.

NESTO is looking to expand and start a Junior NESTO for seventh and eight graders. We feel there is a need and a demand to provide a kosher social-educational setting for English-speaking young teen olim. Programming has already begun as we look to hold our first event on Chanuka. If you are interested in finding out more about this exciting new group, please call Naomi at our office or email us

That’s all for now, Shabbat Shalom, Josh, Chave, Naomi
