Sedra-Stats 7th of 54 sedras; 7th of 12 in B'reishit Vayeitzei is one single long Parsha, closed, which fits with the fact that it is a continuation of the To'l'dot story. It is the longest closed parsha, and second only to the open parsha that is Mikeitz of 254.6 lines long 148 p'sukim - rank: 6th (3rd) Mitzvot: None of the TARYAG are counted from Vayeitzei The 3 longest sedras (in p'sukim) are in Bamidbar; the next 6 are from B'reishit. Counting words and letters, 4 of the top 6 in the Torah are in B'reishit Specifically, NASO is the longest sedra in all 3 categories. Pinchas, BaMidbar, No'ach, and Vayishlach all have more p'sukim than Vayeitzei, but all have fewer words. On the other hand, Vayeira and Mikeitz have more words than Vayeitzei, but fewer p'sukim. This is a good illustration of the fact that sedras vary in number of p'sukim, as well as number of words per pasuk. [The Vayeitzei Homepage]
