Torah Tidbits in the PALM of your hand - Technology serving Torah

Well, we are still having computer, web, and timing problems, but TT #430 made it into Palm format and I've been carrying it around on my Palm device, with a full set of bookmarks. We'll see what happens this week. Last week we were reviewing (sort of) the Penticon website and its Moadon of Hebrew documents. I had a chance to look at Eicha, which I chose to download for obvious reasons. Each pasuk is presented individually and with a title of sorts, identifying chapter and verse. When you tap on the title of any pasuk, the English translation replaces the Hebrew text. Another tap and you are back to Hebrew.

To digress (we'll get back to penticon either this column or a future one)... There are two different moon phase programs that are nice to have around. You can follow the progress of the moon through the month and not be surprised when it's Rosh Chodesh. The programs were not written as Jewish programs, but we do have a special interest in the cycle of the moon.

A reader (when I find his name I'll acknowledge him) suggested a special use of a simple freeware program that can be downloaded from any of the many Palm software sites out there. The program is called MIRROR and when activated, it simply makes the screen go black, which turns the screen very reflective. It is perfect for checking one's T'filin, especially if you use your Palm for davening anyway.
