Torah tidbits

TT in the Palm of your hand- Technology serving Torah

It seems that last week's self-congratulations were a bit premature. I spent a big chunk of time building the bookmarks, and they were supposed to be saved when the file was backed up on a hotsync. Alas, the file was backed up, but without the bookmarks. One of these days.

Meanwhile, I'm getting closer to creating a Torah Tidbits channel on Avantgo. Until that happens, you might want to try what I did — make a personal channel out of Torah Tidbits. You don't have to wait for a website to become a channel; you can turn any website into a channel just for you.  That's what I did with TT. Remember, you can wait for us to make TT into a channel. Or you can have fun making it into a channel for you. Go online. Go to the Avantgo.com site. Make sure it is set for Palm (rather than windows CE or web-enabled phones). Login to your Avantgo account. At the bottom of your personal menu of channels, click on CREATE CHANNEL. We're walking through the process of making TT a channel, but you can do it with most any website. Type Torah Tidbits into the space for title. Location is http://www.ou.org/torah/tt. Leave the max. size at 100kb. Make the link depth be 2. Say yes to include images. No to follow off-site links.Leave the refresh at every hotsync. Click save channel. If all goes well, Torah Tidbits will be shown at the bottom of your list of channels. Hotsync to load TT into your Palm. TT will now be part of your list of channels and when you hotsync, you will get the latest version of TT.  It needs polishing, but it works. If you try all of this, I'd love to hear feedback from you. Hopefully, it will become easier to get TT via Avantgo, but in the meanwhile, doing it this way can be fun.
