Parashat No'ach
Most elements in this week's PP are Davka Judaica graphics. The others are Task Force art clips. Although this week's PP is simple and straightforward, it can be used productively with youngsters to get them reviewing the sedra. Points for discussion: See the giraffes in the ark-loading scene? How many were taken onto theark? In other words, is a giraffe kosher. It has a split hoof and it chews its cud. It probably is kosher, though we have no Tradition saying so. Rainbow - good or bad sign? The grapes and wine refer to the incident with No'ach and sons. The BOOM refers to the population explosion presented in the sedra. On the practical side of TAL U'MATAR, there are differing opinions as to what a visitor to Israel does starting this Motza'ei Shabbat. Some say that only if one intends to remain in Israel fro a year, would he say TAL U'MATAR on the Israeli schedule. Students who are here for the year, are usually not here for a whole year. This is a tricky question, especially if they are going back "home" for Pesach. Some poskim tell the students to say T&M from 7 Cheshvan, like those who live here. Others recommend that they day V'TEIN BRACHA until Dec. 5th but add V'TEIN TAL U'MATAR LIVRACHA in the more flexible and personal SH'MA KOLEINU. We recommendthat anyone with a doubt should check with his favorite posek. Whatever you do, let's hope it works. [The ParshaPix Index][The No'ach Homepage] |
