ParshaPix Puzzle

Last Week's TTriddles

[1] Who/what/where/is/are K'RUS-P'DIN?
[2] Whose were curved rather than angled and dotted?
[3] The alliterative forbear, pop & son.
[4] They shared a mission and initials.
[5] Let's call a spade a spade.
[6] No title, name - here; title, no name - there.
[7] From sendee to sender.
[8] Find K+A-P for F and O&W.
[9] Before San Francisco and New York.
[10] 13 months pregnancy?
[11] The big head is a hand or a Jew.
And [12] which was hiding in the ParshaPix:

From the top.

[1] K'RUS-P'DIN are Tzitzit (see Onkeles).

[2] In the listing of the Meraglim at the beginning of the sedra, there is a common TRUP pattern of ZAKEIF KATAN, an angle and a pair of dots, for the words L'MATEI YEHUDA... The only two Meraglim that are different are Menashe's and Efrayim's, where the TRUP is MERCHA TIPCHA, "curved as opposed to angled and dotted"

[3] Alliteration, in case you've forgotten, is Great green globs... As applied to the Meraglim, only Yissachar gives us the same initial letter for Shevet (forbear), and ploni b. ploni, viz. L'matei Yissachar, Yig'al b. Yosef.

[4] Also from the names of the Meraglim come Gadi b. Susi and Gadi'el b. Sodi - they share initials and a mission.

[5] This was the weakest one, in retrospect, but it was meant to point to the comment of the Vilna Gaon that the place from where the Meraglim took the Eshkol of grapes and which they named Eshkol, was previously called Eshkol. He bases his comment on the variant spellings of ESHKOL in the pasuk. Like calling a spade a spade.

[6] Here (in Israel) we read the 3rd perek of Avot, which begins with the mishna of Akavya, no title but a name. There, in Chutz LaAretz, they began their perek with RABBI (R. Yehuda HaNasi) - a title, but no name.

[7] Yehoshua went from being a sendee in the sedra to being the sender of spies in the Haftara.

[8] K is for Keves, A for Ayil, P for Par, F for flour, O&W is oil and wine. K,A,P respectively were accompanied by 1,2, and 3 tenth of an Eifa of flour. K+A-P=0. For oil and wine, the amounts are 1/4, 1/3, and 1/2. K+A-P = 1/12.

[9] Before SF and NY, the Giants lived (and played baseball?) in Hevron.

[10] My favorite, but a real hard one, so it seems. At the Seder, 9 are the months of pregnancy and 13 are the Divine attributes. In Sh'lach, there are 9 Divine Attributes. Does that mean 13 months of pregnancy if we edit ECHAD MI YODEI'A?

[11] The big head is the large initial letter of Yigdal. Yud - Yad - Yid.

[12] And finally, a throwback to the original PPPs, now referred to as a visual TTriddle. I'm not giving the sol'n. I challenge you to solve it.

RHM submitted a partial. So did DM. Rehovot Klavan & Co. had a nice sol'n set (CD), as did WMEISNER@shaalvim (CD). Be in touch.
