Last Motza'ei Shabbat was the first opportunity for Kidush L'vana this month. It was more than 72 hours (3 full days) after the Molad of Elul. Since it was "only" the eve of the third of Elul, some people attempted to claim that it was too early for K.L. My special thanks to those people (known to me and not) who defended last Motza'ei Shabbat's K.L. by citing Torah Tidbits. We were told that TT ended arguments in a few shuls. On the other hand, this Motza'ei Shabbat, Parshat Ki Teitzei, is unquestion as a good K.L. opportunity. It satisfies the 7-day after the Molad people as well as those who say K.L. only on Motza'ei Shabbat. The only people who should not say K.L. this Motza"Sh are those who have already said it this month.

Mishna Rosh HaShana records a dispute concerning when Rosh HaShana for Animal Tithing is. Tana Kama (first unattributed opinion in the Mishna) says 1 Elul. R. Eliezer and R. Shimon say 1 Tishrei. A calf, lamb, or kid born this month will either be considered a 5760 animal or a 5761 animal, depending.
