TT in the Palm of your hand - Technology serving Torah

You can download the Palm version of Torah Tidbits from the Torah Tidbits website - www.ou.org/torah/tt (or from www.pilotyid.com which will send you to the ou/tt site) - or you can email me and ask to be put on the email list to receive an attached file of the document. If you need help with the procedures of downloading and/or hotsyncing, contact Phil at the Israel Center (500-3333 ext. 207) or email to tt@ou.org.

For those less familiar with Palming, since your computer has much more memory than your Palm device, it is good to keep in mind that you can periodically empty your Palm a bit and not have to worry about having to go through the whole downloading procedure if you want the particular program or document again, because the programs remain on your computer. In other words, you can build up a fairly large collection of Palm programs and documents on your computer, and then put them into the Palm when you want, and when its memory allows, and remove some when memory is in short supply.

Tips: There are some graffiti letters or numbers for which there is a better way (more reliable) to write than the way the Palm people suggest. Y, for example, often misfires. Try writing an 8 on the letter side of the graffiti rectangle. I get a very reliable Y. By the way, if you tap the graffiti area first, an 8 will produce the ampersand (that's this symbol &), which looks like an 8. The symbols produced after a tap can be written from either side of the graffiti rectangle. Tap-O is how to get the @ symbol for email addresses. A backwards N gives an H on the letter area, a 9 on the number side, and a # after a tap. And a regular N after a tap give ". If you do either a regular N or a backwards N (after a tap) from right to left, you'll get a tilde (~). Play around a bit and you'll discover your own strokes.

Anti-Tip: If someone suggests that you put a strip of invisible tape (matte scotch tape) on your graffiti rectangle to prevent scratching your screen - DON'T do it, unless the tape is labeled REMOVABLE (Even then, I'd be suspicious.). Otherwise it will be very difficult to remove, clean, and replace.
