Explanations of this week's ParshaPix -

Another vintage ParshaPix with many springboards to teach the parsha with.

The three bags at the top contain the three precious metals used in the construction of the Mishkan and its furnishings.

The gem and olive oil, the wood and the different colored threads represent other materials collected.

Then there are the ringsand the column. Referred to repeatedly, you can challenge your children and guests to find the various references.

The sewing machine can be used to start a discussion of the special weaving of various parts of the Mishkan.

In the lower left are the three types of adornments on the Menorah - G'VI'A, KAFTOR, PERACH.

What's a TACHASH? Some say: ermine, wild ram, okapi, antelope, giraffe, narwhal, sea cow (dugong), type of seal; some say it was an animal that existed at that time only. Others define Tachash as "dark, waterproof leather".
