Parashat Pinchas
Last year, some elements of this PP were part of the PPP. This time, all will be explained. Decide how you want to use the ParshaPix with your children and Shabbat guests. Upper left is a CHOSHEN, representing the Kehuna that was given to Pinchas by G-d. Upper-right is the dove of peace and a spear, reminding us of the irony that a violent act earned Pinchas the covenant of Shalom. Below the Choshen is a broken hook, VAV in Hebrew. The letter VAV in the word Shalom is written by a Sofer witha noticeable split in its leg. The little hand is a little YAD, YUD as in the name Pinchas. According to KiTov, the origianl name is of Egyptian origin and G-d added a YUD, one of the letters from His Name. (This is consistent with Sarah and Avraham, Yosef and Yehoshua, each of which received either a YUD or a HEI.) Thecalculator stands for the counting of the people. The 5 girls represent the daughters of Tzelafchad. The shofar is the Shofar. Duh. The two lambs are the T'midim or maybe the Musaf of shabbat. The binoculars are for Moshe's look over the Land. The computer terminal is a MASOF which sort of sounds like MUSAF, as in thesedra. And the apple core over the girls becomes a play on KOR-BANOT. So goes it. Have fun.
