 Parshat Ki Tisa

Ki Tisa begins with the mitzva of the Half-Shekel which is
clearly represented in the ParshaPix. The last of the furnishings of the Mikdasah is
presented - the washing basin, represented here by the faucet. Next comes the spices for
the special oils and the Ketoret, the Incense, depicted by the olive oil and the mortarand
pestle in the PP. Then comes the call to Bezalel and company, represented by the two
fellows in hardhats working with construction plans. After these Mikdash-related issues,
the Torah makes an important point - namely, the supremacy of the Shabbat. Construction of
the Mishkan stops for Shabbat. Shabbat is the eternalsign of the covenant between G-d and
the People of Israel. This is represented by the Shabbat candlesticks. Next, the Torah
tells us about the Sin of the Golden Calf. That is the graphic in the lower-right of the
PP, from the Davka collection. Towards the end of the sedra, Pesach is mentioned (hence
the matza) and so isthe prohibition against eating milk and meat mixtures.
