TT334PPP Nitzavim plus

[1] If chicken pox would be a hereditary disease, then we would likely find ourselves and our children with dots on our bodies. This was a whimsical reference to the dots over the words LANU U'L'VANEINU in Nitzavim.

[2] Next we come to a problem picture, because it looks like, but wasn't meant to be a pelephone. What it is, is a remote control unit. And in the negation circle it means not remote, as in Torah and/or T'shuva not being remote, or in
Shamayim, or on the other side of the sea, etc. LO NIFLEIT HI... Sorry about that. Sometime the specific clip art misleads solvers.

[3] This one is a bit more obscure than most. Sorry again. PA-2 is father #2, namely Yitzchak Avinu. The PA-2 is on the binding of the book and represents the binding of Yitzchak (one of the main themes of Rosh HaShana - remember that TT334 was a multiple issue).

[4] Paul is Paul Bunyon and Babe is his blue ox companion, and he is a wood cutter. Jack and Jill, before they were injured, went up the hill to draw water. Therefore Paul, Babe, Jack, Jill represent the CHOTEIV EITZECHA and SHO'EIV
MEIMECHA of the beginning of the sedra (Nitzavim).

[5] Lower-right is straight-forward - a hook at the head of a column, or VAV B'ROSH AMUD. That is the comment about the first letter of V'A'I'DA towards the end of Vayeilech, which is at the head of a column in all Torah scrolls. See page 3 for further details.

[6] The cat with the speech bubble and the enter key in it is a bit more corny than most. For that I also apologize. Besides MEOW, a cat also makes a sound called a PURR, in this case a Yom KEY-PURR. Groan. Sorry.

[7] And finally there is the word Shabbat written backwards, representing the Shabbat of return or SHABBAT SHUVA.

So, among the 7 elements in this PPP, Nitzavim and Vayeilech are represented, as are Rosh HaShana, Yom Kippur, and Shabbat Shuva.

Which brings us to the radio riddles from Torah Tidbits Audio on Arutz-7

continue on page 12

Thursday night of Shabbat Shuva. See if you can do better than the listeners (no offense, listeners). One is on the serious side and one is kind of flippant. Here they are.

What word ties Purim to the Yamim Nora'im?

That is, besides PURIM and YOM KIPPURIM. Here's the other riddle:

P'Madam Butterfly, M'Figaro, R'Barber of Seville, B'Carmen.  Continue this set with an entry from Parshat Vayeilech.

Hint: Each term in the set is made up of an opera preceded by the initial of its composer. (Puccini, Mozart, Rossini, Bizet.)

I'm not including the answers in this issue. Take it as a challenge and submit your solutions as are done with PPP.

Because people are busy with other things at this time of the calendar, there were only a handful of PPP solutions this week. Thank you to those who submitted answers. I've decided not to include a PPP report in this issue, but I will acknowledge this week's solvers at a future time, IY"H. And, no PPP this issue. Sorry.
