 Parshat Chayei Sara

Explanations of this week's ParshaPix -
The ten camels that Eliezer took with him when he went
searching for a wife for Yitzchak.
Upper-right is Eliezer's refusal to eat until after settling the matter of Rivka. This, it
seems, saved his life. The bottle of poison represents Lavan's attempt to poison Eliezer.
The Midrash says that Betuel was killed by mistake with the poison intended for Eliezer.
Below and to the left of the camels is Rivka at the
well (Davka Judaica clipart)
The Chupa scene is to remind us of several marriage-
related practices that we derive from this parsha.
The gift-wrapped present represents the presents that
Eliezer gave Rivka and family and those that Avraham
gave the children of Ketura.
The 400 silver coins that Avraham paid to Efron for Me'arat HaMachpeila and the
surrounding area.
Lower-left is the ring that Eliezer gave Rivka on behalf of Yitzchak.
The gravestones of Avraham and Sara with the dates (to
Creation) that they lived.
