ParshaPix

Explanations of this week's ParshaPix -

Across the top from right to left are representations of the three MAKOT in Parshat BO - locust, darkness, the killing of the firstborns. Below that are matza and a lamb for Korban Pesach. All obvious, but good discussion starters with you family and guests. For example, it is interesting to speculate about Korbanot in our time. Under the sword of Makat B'chorot is a clock showing about midnight, not exactly. This is based on the famous comments about the killing occurring BACHATZI HALAILA, at midnight, as opposed to Moshe's statement to the people that it will occur KACHATZI HALAILA, about midnight. The barking dog is from Egypt, not the Jewish area. The can of peas is SHIMURIM, a play on words. The guard in the lower-right is for all the guarding mentioned in the sedra. Challenge others to find them. Donkey, goat, baby - B'chor. T'filin are T'filin.
