The ParshaPix Puzzle for Parshat Chukat

This week's PPP (Chukat) has some elements that can be
presented with text. The Hebrew in one will be spelled out.
C.R.C. = PEI-ALEF"TAV = TAV-SAMACH"SHIN
(-1) x (-n) = n, (-1) x n = -n
T E J E W I S P E P L E
The other three parts of the PPP are graphic.
Late entry for PPP
Yes, Mike Shaffer of Kfar Saba, you are right.
TT322PPP (Korach)
In addition to the five puzzle pieces above, there was also
the hold-over riddle from Shlach:
Par'o, and; the dozen, or.
[1] A 20NIS note - FACE DOWN - with a listening ear
attached, represents VAYISHMA MOSHE (Moshe Sharret is on the 20) VAYIPOL AL PANAV, and
Moshe heard and he fell on his face (in prayer).
[2] There is a musical staff marked with the name Copland,
which has sprouted wings. That would be VAYIFRACH MATEH AHARON, the staff of Aaron
(Copland, famous 20th century American composer), flies (a play on words, since the root
PEI-REISH-CHET means both flower and fly).
[3] Stop sign with a sun on it was meant to be a reference
to the miracle recorded in Yehoshua 10:12 when Yehoshua
called upon G-d to stop the Sun and the Moon, and He did
and they stood still until... Sefer HaToda'a of Rabbi Eliyahu Ki Tov says that the event
occurred on the 3rd of Tammuz, last Shabbat.'s date.
So many of the proposed solutions suggested that it refers
to the SDT in TT322 page 4 second column which quotes the Gemara that the Sun (and Moon)
threatened to stop shining if Korach would win his argument, that I decided to make it an
alternate solution for [3].
[4] This is an experimental PPP in that the solution is not
what is shown in the picture, but what is not shown
namely, PI (as in pea) HaAretz, the mouth of the Earth that
swallowed Korach and his gang. (The P part of an R was
removed from the word EARTH.) [4] has a simultaneous other solution PI HA'ARETZ is
mentioned in the fifth chapter of Avot (read this past Shabbat) as one of the miraculous
items created by G-d in the instant before Shabbat B'reishit.
[5] This is a wheel (not a steering wheel, although we'll
give credit for that solution too) with a crown as a hub
cap. This is a reference to the Haftara of Korach, from
Shmuel Alef, where the KINGSHIP is "renewed" in GILGAL (a play on galgal,
wheel).
That's it for Korach. The bonus puzzle was the holdover
riddle from Shlach (actually, Shlach & Mikeitz hint). [6]
Par'o, and; the dozen, or. The answer is FAT & THIN. Par'o
saw in his dreams both fat AND thin cows and sheaves of
wheat. The dozen refers to the Meraglim who were sent to
spy out the Land. Among other things, they were to
determine if the Land was fat OR thin. Par'o, and; the dozen, or.
Havdala Haratis did not find me home at the usual time; I
was in the muggy (but wonderful) city of Bnei Braq for
Sheva Brochot x 3. They did catch me on Sunday morning,
which is when one would say Havdala if he did not have the
opportunity to do so on Motza'ei Shabbat. In keeping with
halacha, their okay solution lacked spice and fire. Just
kidding. They got [2,4,5] and a nice try on [3]. DYANEC, on
the other hand, did reach me late Motza"Sh with [1,2,4,5].
Sunday email and fax brought more joyful solutions. YBD &
daughters collaborated on correct solutions for [2,3,4,5].
Nice going.Rehovot Ks got [2,4], had a good other solution
for [3] with the plague stopping (the sunburst looked like
an attacking affliction of sorts). Their try for [5] was cute, but no cigar, as the
expression doesn't go. And a good partial for [1], plus the reference to shekel and twenty
from 18:16. David Miller had a decent partial solution set. Benjie, Esti, Daniel, Eli:
Partial for [1], hit for [2], [3] Where does it say that? [4] okay, especially since they
claim to have figured out the solution on Friday late PM, Bein HaSh'mashot [5] was good,
including the corny addition that Shmuel SPOKE to the people.
The Ofra Shelnitzes had more than a complete solution.
Except for [6], which no one seems to have related to. Theirs, and the Ramot Lerners, are
the best so far. Teitelbaum Talkers, good partial. Benjie Gersten, nice try.
Chaim Eisen, very nice and welcome back. Mike Miller, whose solutions I left out of last
week's TT, sent his regrets
for this week, since the website did not have pictures.
Sorry, Mike. But another reason to make Aliya. And, a fine
entry by master-solvers (there are others with this designation) the Steinhart Gang. And
the Podolaks had 3 perfect hits, but that's it.
