Dr. Shawn Zelig Aster is an assistant professor of Bible at Yeshiva University. Dr. Aster has held teaching and research positions at Ben Gurion University, Haifa University, Hebrew University, Bar Ilan University and the University of Pennsylvania. He has also taught Jewish studies at high schools in the United Stated and Israel. Dr. Aster received his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in biblical studies and Assyriology, received his MA in Jewish studies from McGill University and his BA in government studies at Harvard University. Dr. Aster has written several articles for myjewishlearning.com, including "Ezra and Nehemiah: The Return to Zion"; "The Book of Kings: Religion Meets Geo-Politics, Ancient Style"; and "Lamenting Jerusalem's Destruction." Rabbi Azarya Berzon
Rav Azarya Berzon graduated from Yeshiva University High School in 1970, and studied in Eretz Yisrael for three years (two years under the tutelage of HaRav Moshe Shapiro shlita, one of the greats of our generation). Returning to the US, he continued learning for the next five years under the direction of HaRav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik, zatzal, whose Derech HaLimud he faithfully absorbed. During those years he joined the YU Kollel, received Smicha from RIETS (1978), and earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Philosophy. The following year Rav Berzon enrolled in the Yeshiva University Gruss Kollel in Eretz Yisrael. He then taught for 13 years at Yeshivat Birchat Moshe in Maaleh Adumim and Yeshivat Shaalvim. In 1991 Rav Berzon founded Yeshiva Sha'arei Mevaseret Zion where he served as Rosh Yeshiva for 18 years. In August of 2009, Rav Berzon came to Toronto, Canada, to establish the Torah Mitziyon-Yeshiva University Beit Midrash Zichron Dov where Rav Berzon serves as Co-Rosh Kollel. Rav Berzon is acknowledged as an educator who utilizes the Brisker Derech. He has written extensively about this Derech HaLimud and is currently completing a work on the Rambam. Rav Azarya’s fervent Ahavas Yisrael was inculcated by his father, zatzal, one of the outstanding Rabbanim in America.

Rabbi Dr. Stanley M. Wagner is Rabbi Emeritus of the Beth HaMedrosh HaGadol-Beth Joseph Congregation in Denver, Colorado; Professor Emeritus at the University of Denver and Founding Director and Director Emeritus of its Center for Judaic Studies; and Founding Director and Director Emeritus of the Mizel Museum in Denver. He received six degrees of higher learning from Yeshiva University, including a doctorate in Jewish History. Rabbi Dr. Israel Drazin is the author of fifteen books, nine of which are on Targum Onkelos. He was the first scholar to recognize that the Targum took hundreds of items from the Tannaitic Midrashim – those that were edited around 400 CE – and even incorporated many words found in these Midrashim in his translation. He received a number of Rabbinic ordinations, and earned a B.A. in Theology, an M.Ed. in Psychology, an M.A. in Hebrew Literature, a J.D. in Law and a Ph.D. in Aramaic Literature.

Rabbi Shlomo Einhorn is a musmach of the R.I.E.T.S Theological School at Yeshiva University. After earning his Bachelors degree in World History, Rabbi Einhorn went on to earn a Masters in Education from the Azrieli School of Education. Rabbi Einhorn served as Rabbinic Intern at the Lincoln Square Synagogue. Two years later Rabbi Einhorn went on to become the head rabbi of West Side Institutional Synagogue in Manhattan. Since Rabbi Einhorn's arrival, the membership has grown by 70% in under four years. Rabbi Einhorn currently teaches at the Marsha Stern Talmudic Academy (MTA). Prior to teaching at MTA, Rabbi Einhorn served as Director of Education for New Jersey NCSY Junior Division. Among Rabbi Einhorn’s passions is music as he released a wonderful Jewish New Age record, on which he wrote, sang, and played guitar - called KLI, in 2000. In addition, he has also written a soon to be published book on the Interface of the Mind and Soul in Halacha. Rabbi Einhorn achieved critical acclaim with his dynamic “Simcha Seminar”. Rabbi Yitzchak Etshalom, a native of Los Angeles, California, attended Yeshivat Kerem B'Yavne, Rabbi Isaac Elhanan Theological Seminary and Yeshivat Har Etzion before receiving ordination from the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem. Rabbi Etshalom has been a dynamic and exciting educator in the Los Angeles area since 1985. His ability to reach out to today's youth and share with them his passion for Jewish learning and Jewish life has enriched many young lives. His talents, however, are not confined to the classroom - he is an accomplished storyteller, radio host and songwriter and has published recordings of both his own stories and music. Rabbi Etshalom's first book "Between the Lines of the Bible" was published by Yashar Books; volume 2 is expected in 2010. He serves on the Administration of Yeshiva University High Schools of Los Angeles as Director of Curriculum as well as being a senior instructor in both the Boys' and Girl's divisions. Rabbi Dr. Sholom Gold, attended Yeshiva Torah Vodaath in NY, Ner Israel in Baltimore, and Yeshivot Ponevez and Hevron in Israel. He received semicha from Chief Rabbi Yitzchok Isaac Halevi Herzog and from HaRav Yaacov Yitzchok Halevi Ruderman. As a young man in 1959, he came to Toronto to establish the Ner Israel Yeshiva, where he also built and developed Congregation Bnei Torah in Willowdale, a northern suburb of Toronto. Becoming Rabbi of Young Israel of West Hempstead NY in 1971, he built one of the first eruvin in North America, which quickly became a model world-wide. Under his leadership the local mikveh was built as West Hempstead was developing into one of the most vibrant religious communities in the NY area. Since making aliya in 1982, he has built and served as the Rav of Kehilat Zichron Yoseph in Har Nof, and in 1984 founded the Avrom Silver Jerusalem College for Adults, which merged with the Israel Center in 2002, where Rabbi Gold, as Dean, is teaching Torah today. He was one of the founders of the Ichud Harabanim L’maan Eretz Yisrael V’am Yisrael , under the guidance of the Chief Rabbis Avraham Schapira z”l and Mordechai Eliyahu z”l. Noted as one of the most articulate spokesmen in the Orthodox community today, Rabbi Shmuel Goldin has developed an innovative educational approach to Torah study, Jewish law and Jewish identity which is enthusiastically received by traditional and non-traditional Jews alike. Rabbi Goldin received his BS in psychology and his MA in Jewish education from Yeshiva University, and his rabbinic ordination from the Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University. He has served as spiritual leader of Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood, New Jersey, since 1984. He is an instructor of Bible, Philosophy and Talmud at the Isaac Breuer College and the Mechina Program of Yeshiva University, founding director and lecturer at The Eve Flechner Torah Institute, and currently serves as the first Vice President of the Rabbinical Council of America.

Rabbi Aaron Greenberg
Rabbi Aaron Greenberg was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. After graduating from Yeshivat Or Chaim ('93), he spent a year and a half studying in Yeshivat Shilo. Upon completion of his degree in Psychology and Religious Studies from York University, Aaron returned to Israel to study at Yeshivat Har Etzion in the Gush. Upon returning to Canada, Aaron returned to his alma mater to work as a Madrich but soon began teaching classes in Gemara and Tanach. He began teaching at Or Chaim’s sister school, Ulpanat Orot, and was involved in coordinating student activates at both campuses. Aaron received his rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Gavriel Zinner of Brooklyn, New York. Aaron completed his Master's degree in Jewish School Administration and Education from Yeshiva University's Azrieli School of Education. In addition to his Master’s degree, Aaron also completed certification to be a principal through both the Board of Jewish Education and York University. Aaron is very involved in his local synagogue (BAYT) and actively assumes various roles including Rav of one of the minyanim on the yamim norayim as well as a weekly high school minyan. He sits on numerous committees in the community and acts as a Rabbinic counselor to numerous young adults, who look to him for spiritual guidance and advice. During his ten year tenure at Bnei Akiva Schools, Aaron was approached by Hillel of Greater Toronto to create a revolutionary program on campus at York University known as the “Turk Family Beit Midrash.”. This initiative grew into what is currently Aaron’s full time position as the co-educator and director of the Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus, a program sponsored by the Orthodox Union and Hillel. Currently Aaron also teaches a grade 12 Ethics course at Tannenbaum CHAT, a local Jewish High School.

After 7 years, he went on to become one of the founding members of the Lakewood Kollel of Los Angeles in 1975. In 1981 he helped start the Yeshiva Gedola of Los Angeles, where he taught the 12th grade until 2009. Since 2009 he has moved on to become the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Hachaim, a post-high school beis medrash in Los Angeles. From Buffalo he and his family traveled to Melbourne, Australia where as a project of Kollel Bais HaTalmud he founded the Australian Institute of Torah, a national outreach and adult education program. He directed that program from 1990-1995, at which time he was sought out as National Director of Jewish Education for the Orthodox Union in the United States where he created the Internationally acclaimed and highly successful "Pardes Project." In addition to his duties at the OU, in 1996 he replaced Rabbi Berel Wein as the spiritual leader of Congregation Bais Torah in Monsey, NY. In keeping with the position of Congregation Bais Torah in the Monsey community, Rabbi Haber was involved in issues involving the greater Monsey community, and counseled hundreds of individuals in the surrounding area. Rabbi Yaacov Haber is the founder and driving force behind TorahLab. Through TorahLab, Rabbi Haber is bringing together educational and media specialists to create dynamic learning experiences which will be accessible to adults of all backgrounds and levels. Rabbi Haber has published numerous articles and books and is a sought after international lecturer. Rabbi Haber and his family are presently living in Jerusalem.

Rav Aharon Kahn is the Joel Jablonski Professor of Talmud and Codes at Yeshiva University's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS). Rabbi Kahn was ordained at RIETS in 1969 and later earned Semicha Yadin Yadin from the Rabbi Mendel Zaks ztz”l and Rabbi Moshe Dovber Rivkin ztz”l. He studied with Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik for 20 years and acted as Rabbi Soloveitchik's assistant for ten years. Rabbi Kahn served as spiritual leader of the Downtown Talmud Torah Synagogue in Manhattan's Lower East Side for 18 years. He is currently rabbi of Congregation Bais Keneses Avigdor in the Flatbush, Brooklyn.

Having authored over 200 articles on the weekly parsha and holidays with a readership in excess of 10,000, Rabbi Kahn is also the author of Explorations, an in-depth analysis of the weekly Torah reading, and Emanations, an in-depth analysis of the Jewish holidays. A new volume on Bereishit, Echoes of Eden, was published in June 2011. This is the first of a projected 5-volume set to be published by the OU and Gefen Publishing.

Rabbi Dr. Asher Meir is one of the Jewish world's best-known lecturers and educators in the area of business ethics. Rabbi Dr Meir is known by a wide audience from his Ethics@Work column in the Jerusalem Post, through the popular syndicated column "The Jewish Ethicist," and through his lectures and books. His extensive background includes being educated at Harvard, and obtaining a Ph.D. in economics from MIT. He has worked on the staff of the Council of Economic Advisers in the Regan Administration. His rabbinic ordination is from the Israeli Chief Rabbinate. Rabbi Dr Meir's works combine a professional grasp of the detailed workings of the 21st century economy with a highly-developed sensitivity to the eternal ethical messages of Jewish law and tradition. For a number of years he served as a Senior Lecturer in economics and business ethics at the Jerusalem College of Technology. Rabbi Meir's first book, The Jewish Ethicist, was released in February 2005 and rapidly obtained remarkable reviewer approval. The American Library Association's Booklist applauded it as "an important source of ethical insights for Jews and non-Jews alike," while the Jewish Press noted that the author "combines up-to-the-minute knowledge of his field with thousands of years of Jewish tradition." Britain's Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks
Rabbi Jonathan Sacks has been Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth since September 1991, the sixth incumbent since the role was formalized in 1845. Prior to taking up his current post, Rabbi Sacks was Principal of Jews' College, as well as rabbi of the Golders Green and Marble Arch synagogues. Educated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he obtained first class honours in Philosophy, Jonathan Sacks pursued postgraduate studies at New College, Oxford, and King's College London, gaining his PH. D in 1981 and rabbinic ordination from Jews' College and Yeshiva Etz Chaim. The Chief Rabbi has been a visiting professor at several universities in Britain, the United States and Israel, and is currently Visiting Professor of Theology at Kings' College London. He holds 14 honorary degrees, including a Doctor of Divinity conferred to mark his first ten years in office, by the Archbishop of Canterbury. At the time of his installation, the Chief Rabbi launched a 'Decade of Jewish Renewal'. This led to a series of innovative communal projects including Jewish Continuity, a national foundation for Jewish educational programmes and outreach; the Association of Jewish Business Ethics; the Chief Rabbinate Awards for Excellence; the Chief Rabbinate Bursaries, and Community Development, a national scheme to enhance Jewish community life. The Chief Rabbi began his second decade of office with a call to 'Jewish Responsibility' and a renewed commitment to the ethical dimension of Judaism. The Chief Rabbi has received a number of prizes, including the Jerusalem Prize 1995 for his contribution to diaspora Jewish life and The Ladislaus Laszt Ecumenical and Social Concern Award from Ben Gurion University in Israel in 2011. He was knighted by Her Majesty The Queen in 2005 and made a Life Peer, taking his seat in the House of Lords on 27th October 2009, where he sits on the cross benches as Baron Sacks of Aldgate in the City of London. The Chief Rabbi is a frequent contributor to radio, television and the national press. He regularly delivers BBC RADIO 4's Thought for the Day, writes a monthly Credo column for The Times as well as other comment pieces and broadcasts an annual Rosh Hashanah message on BBC. In 1990 he was invited by the BBC Board of Governors to deliver the annual Reith Lectures which were then published as The Persistence of Faith. He has written 24 books, his most recent being The Great Partnership: God, Science and the Search for Meaning which was published in July 2011. A number of his books have won literary awards, including the Grawemeyer Prize for Religion in 2004 for The Dignity of Difference, and a National Jewish Book Award in 2000 for A Letter in the Scroll. He is a CPA with over 20 years of Accounting/Finance experience working for a diverse range of Companies spanning both the Public and Private sectors. He is a graduate of Yeshiva Torah Vodaath and Touro College and resides with his wife and 5 children in Brooklyn, NY where he delivers weekly shiurim in a local Shul in Flatbush.

Rabbi Jonathan Shulman
Rabbi Jonathan Shulman moved to Jerusalem from Cambridge, MA eight years ago. He is currently the OU/JLIC rabbi at the University of Pennsylvania. Jonathan began his rabbinic studies at Yeshivat Darchei Noam (Shapell's). After studying at Shapell's for two years, he moved on to the Mir Yeshiva, where he studied for the next five years. Before returning to the States, Jonathan worked with the overseas students at Hebrew University at the Afikim Kollel, a student center for Jewish learning. He served there as the director of the overseas program, teacher and mentor. He received his BA from the University of Virginia.

Shira Smiles
Mrs. Shira Smiles is a highly sought-after international lecturer, a popular seminary teacher, and an experienced curriculum developer. She is well-known for her unique teaching style, which seeks to bring understanding of Torah texts through analysis of relevant sources, while making the lessons learned from every verse relevant to her students' lives. Mrs. Smiles teaches at Darchei Bina Seminary. In addition, she leads a number of women's study group classes in Beit Shemesh, Yerushalayim, and Modiin. Mrs. Smiles also trains Torah teachers in special workshops all over the world. Mrs. Smiles gives a weekly shiur that is broadcast around the world via satellite hookup, has a direct teleconference shiur with students in LA, and has over 300 audio shiurim. Rav Soloveitchik was renowned as a Talmudist and philosopher, celebrated for his insightful synthesis of Torah ethos into our post-modern world. As rosh yeshiva of RIETS, the Rav ordained nearly 2,000 rabbis over almost half a century. The Rav passed away in 1993 at the age of 90. Rabbi Baruch Taub
Founding Rav and Rabbi Emeritus of Beth Avraham Congregation of Toronto / Thornhill (BAYT), one of the largest and most vibrant congregation in the Orthodox world. At the invitation of Toronto philanthropist Joseph Tanenbaum, Rabbi Taub initiated the BAYT in his new home with 12 founding member families, thirty years ago. In the years that followed the shul grew to over 800 families, housed in a state-of-the-art Synagogue building. Under the aegis of its "Meshech Chochma" Adult Education Program, the BAYT conducts over 30 weekly Shiurim, including two daily Daf Yomi Shiurim as well as numerous Shiurim b'Ivrit. With five daily Shacharis Minyonim, two Mincha and Ma'ariv Services, as well as seven Shabbos morning services, the BAYT has become a vibrant Torah Learning and Davening Center. Rabbi Taub served on the Bais Din and was the President of the Va'ad Harabonim of Toronto. In 1990 Rabbi Taub conducted the Siyum Hashas in Lublin, Poland, the site of the founder of the Daf Yomi, Rabbi Meir Shapiro ZT"L. He was awarded the National Rabbinic Leadership Award of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America in 1993. The Rabbi has led an annual BAYT Mission to Israel for the last nine years, twinning the Shul with the Beit El Community. A much sought-after speaker, Rabbi Taub has lectured in most major cities in the USA and Canada. In addition Rabbi Taub has contributed articles to leading Torah Journals. Before returning to his native Toronto, Rabbi Taub served as International Director of NCSY (National Conference of Synagogue Youth) of the UOJCA. In that capacity he inaugurated "NCSY Goes to Yeshiva" and the "NCSY Torah Experience." He also served as the adjunct professor of Judaic Studies at Stern College, Yeshiva University. Rabbi Taub is a Yadin Yadin Musmach of the Ner Israel Rabbinical College, Baltimore, Maryland and holds an M.A. degree from Loyola College Baltimore Maryland and a Doctorate in Judaic Studies from Maimonides College. In November 2010, the BAYT families dedicated a Sefer Torah in his honour and hosted a dinner for the community to honour his retirement as Rav and his becoming Rabbi Emeritus. RabbiTaub has made Aliya and lives in Netanya with his Rebbetzin Malkah (nee Mandelberg) of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Rav Pinchas Mordechai Teitz
Rav Pinchas Mordechai Teitz saw opportunities for the growth of Torah when he came to the U.S. in 1933. He built a modern Torah community in Elizabeth, NJ, where two mikvaos, three schools, and five shuls form a united JEC, Jewish Educational Center. In 1953 he wanted to enable those who had become disillusioned with socialism and Communism to re-connect with the Torah of their youth. He would bring the beit midrash into their homes through a weekly half-hour of study in Yiddish on their favorite radio station, WEVD. Although a full page could not be covered in a half hour, he called it Daf Hashavua. Not only did he reach his intended audience, but a government survey of foreign language programs found 200,000 listeners. Rav Teitz sent tapes of the broadcasts to Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, and Philadelphia, initiating the Torah tapes phenomenon. Jews in Russia heard the shiurim on short-wave radios through Kol Yisrael Lagolah. After he ended the program in 1988 a new wave of university students asked for tapes in order to hear pure, elegant Litvishe Yiddish. Scholars enjoyed his clarity in explaining the gemara; he started each topic with the Torah verses behind it. His grandson Avi, who learned with Rav Teitz on Shabbos afternoons, said, “Some people make you feel the gemara is too complicated for you; Saba makes it clear.”

Rabbi Steven Weil is Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union. Rabbi Steven Weil, the son of German “fie handlers”, grew up on a cattle farm in Upstate New York. His love for learning began early, and as a teenager prevailed upon his parents to send him away to Yeshiva. He continued his education at Kerem B’Yavneh and Yeshiva University, concurrently completing his ordination at the Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchanan Theological Seminary and a Masters in Business Administration from NYU’s Stern School of Business. Rabbi Weil began his career teaching, and then began pulpit work; first at the Young Israel of Oak Park Michigan and then at Beth Jacob Congregation in Beverly Hills, California. In both positions, Rabbi Weil significantly expanded the synagogue’s membership and programming and was involved in serving the needs of the greater community as well. In 2009 he became the chief executive officer of the Orthodox Union. Rabbi Weil is a popular teacher and lecturer, having delivered invocations for former president Bush and governor Schwarzenneger among others. He has served internationally as scholar in residence on land and on sea, and is a passionate advocate for Israel and for Jewish education. Rabbi Weil resides in New Jersey with his wife and seven children.

Rabbi Jeremy Wieder has served as a Rosh Yeshiva in MYP. Since receiving rabbinic ordination at RIETS in 1994, Wieder has been an instructor of Bible at Yeshiva College and has held the post of counselor and mentor to the students of the Mazer Yeshiva Program. A doctoral candidate in Hebrew and Judaic Studies at New York University, Rabbi Wieder received a master’s degree in American Jewish History from Bernard Revel Graduate School and a bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Yeshiva College in 1991. "The breadth of Rabbi Wieder’s knowledge in Talmud and his powers of analysis greatly belie his young years.
