Luach
& Limud Personal Torah Study Guide

Do you
set aside time for daily Torah study?

"When a man is
brought to his Maker to give accounting of his life, one of the
questions he will be asked is, "Did you set aside time for daily
Torah Study?" - (Babylonian
Talmud - Shabbos 31a)
Dear Luach & Limud
Subscriber:
After some 25
years, Luach & Limud has finished Shas!
Beginning with
Masechet Bava Batra in 1980, it recently
completed the cycle of
mishnayot when it reached
the end of Masechet Bava Metsia on
Hoshanah Rabbah, Monday, October 24, 2005.
We have therefore ceased
publication with the October issue.
We would like to
thank Luach & Limud’s Chairman,
Rabbi Sholom Rephun; Rabbi Levi Yitzchok Rothman, the Vice
Chairman; and Jeffrey Teitelbaum, the Editor, for their
outstanding dedication to this project over many years.
Their efforts, and the efforts of all those who have helped
and supported them, have succeeded in increasing daily Torah
study, lehagdil Torah
uleha’adirah.

Personal Torah Study
Luach & Limud Personal Torah Study is structured to help you learn
one Mishnah a day so that you can come to fulfill this most important mitzvah.
Each Mishnah is a self-contained unit and is accompanied by the
acclaimed Kehati Mishnah Commentary English translation.
Each Mishnah is displayed in Hebrew together with the Mishnah vowels.
Over a relatively short period of time your knowledge of Mishnayot will
grow and you will gain a feeling of accomplishment

FAQ
Luach & Limud Digital Edition and PDA's
-
Q. Can
the Luach & Limud Digital Edition be used on Palm devices?
A. The answer for now is "yes" and "no".
The "yes" part is because "today", you can convert our monthly Luach &
Limud Digital Edition to your palm device by obtaining free software from
Adobe at
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/acrrmobiledevices.html
The "no", is because "today", there is limited font support for palm type
devices. Thus the Hebrew fonts that we use in Luach & Limud do not display
correctly. On the other hand, the Kehati [English] commentary used by
Luach & Limud is quite extensive, such that one can nevertheless do their
daily Mishnah on a "today's" palm device in a satisfactory manner.
-
Q. What
is the Palm memory requirement for an average Luach & Limud PDF file on
the Palm?
A. The Palm Luach & Limud PDF file size increases when sent to the Palm
and there needs to be about 1 megabyte available for it. For example, the
March 2003 Luach & Limud PDF file size is 671kb, it increases to 919kb
when sent to the Palm.
-
Q. What
about Pocket PC PDA's
A. YES it does support it!!!
-
Q. What
additional software do I need on my Pocket PC?
Download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader for the Pocket PC PDA available
from Adobe at
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/acrrmobiledevices.html.
-
Q. Are
there alternative PDA viewers that offer support for the Hebrew fonts used
in the
Luach & Limud Digital Edition.
A. As of the July 2004 Luach & Limud Digital Edition, there are PDA
viewers called RepliGo
http://www.cerience.com. The RepliGo suite of viewers, includes a
version for Palm PDA's that are running Palm OS 5.x, that better supports
the Hebrew fonts used in the Luach & Limud Digital Edition.
-
Q. What
should I do besides download the "RepliGo" viewer if I want better support
for the Hebrew fonts used in the Luach & Limud Digital Edition on my PDA.
A. You should download the Luach & Limud Digital Edition in "RepliGo
format" from our Luach & Limud web page.
