In great pain, we address the leaders of the State of Israel concerning the planned evacuation of the holy city of Hebron, Heaven forbid.
In 5689 (1929), the Arabs rioted and massacred their Jewish neighbors by order of the Mufti, may his name be blotted out, and destroyed the Jewish community of Hebron which had existed hundreds of years. The City of the Forefathers remained desolate of her children until, with G-d’s help, the children returned to their borders in the Six Day War of salvation. We are shocked by the news as if the government intends now to evacuate Hebron by pulling out the IDF, to hand over the city to gentiles, and to leave only a tiny strip for the Jews who live there.
Passionately and with a torn heart, we warn that such a pullout is a desertion of the city of the Me’arat HaMachpelah and endangers the lives of the Jewish residents. It is unbelievable that a Jewish government would pursue and complete the notorious plot of the 1929 rioters. This act will cause a serious shock to the entire Jewish People, both in Israel and in the Diaspora. We warn that an indelible blot of shame and disgrace will remain in the annals of history upon the names of those responsible for destroying sacred elements of Judaism. They will never be forgiven!
