E-Mail This Print This RSS Feed ![]() To gear up for Yom Ha'atzmaut and the celebration of 60 years of the State of Israel, a number of photographers were asked to submit photos which for them, capture the essence of Israel. For Steven Allan, Israel is the Jewish homeland... and what could be more Jewish than food? In his slideshow, Steven captures the culinary delights and dealings in and around Israel. Steven Allan was born in London, England, the youngest of five boys. Following the death of his parents, he made aliyah on his own through the Jewish Agency (Aliyat Hanoar) at the age of twelve. After his national service in the Israeli Navy Steven started working in photography as an assistant in London, and Tel-Aviv. After a a two year spell as a freelance assistant in NYC he opened up a studio in Tel-Aviv, where he currently works as a photographer. Steven also writes and photographs for Masa Olami (The Geographical Magazine of Israel).
