The “Catch” in Prof. Obama’s Faith-Based Plan

The venerable "Beliefs" columnist Peter Steinfels, presented an accurate analysis of Barack Obama's proposals to continue, but modify, the "faith-based initiative" in Saturday's NY Times.
For the OU's part, we associate ourselves with those who, in Steinfels' words, "welcomed Mr. Obama’s stance, yet made it clear that those six words pointed to deeper questions about religious freedom that could very well seal the fate not only of any new and potentially improved partnerships between government and religious groups but also even those partnerships that, in reality, had been operating for decades."
