Serious Thoughts About Israel

Posted at 03:40 PM on 05/07/08
In time for Israel's 60th Yom Ha'atzma'ut, former Oleh and IDF soldier Jeffrey Goldberg writes a thought provoking cover story in The Atlantic Monthly which frames today's existential debates over Israel as a "debate" between Prime Minister Olmert and novelist David Grossman.
JPost's Caroline Glick doesn't much care for Goldberg's views and Goldberg has no qualms about taking her on on his new blog

It's appropriate for Jews to mix celebration with reflection; that is what our more ancient holy days such as Pesach and Shavuot are about. We should celebrate the miracle of modern Israel with prayer and song and also serious reflection about what Israel means to us today, her future and our role in shaping that future.
