Sec'y of State Rice is in Jerusalem - but she's not there to bring happy 60th birthday treats. She's there to press the Israeli government on its continuation of "unhelpful" settlement activity - and on the pace and scope of Israel taking down security checkpoints.

With President Bush about to travel to Israel next week to join in the festivities (bringing with him an honorary delegation in which the OU is proud and privileged to participate), we think that the tone and timing of such messages from America's top diplomat is, well, undiplomatic.
