National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer was instituted by President Eisenhower and set as the first Thursday in May by President Reagan. As has been the case for the past eight years, the day's events were launched at The White House by President Bush featuring clergy from diverse faiths (with Rabbi Lyle Fishman reading Tehillim 96) and remarks by the President celebrating the grand tradition of religious freedom and diversity in the United States.
