With the debate over U.S. policy toward Israeli settlement activity continuing, today's Washington Post contains an article offering up a discussion of the State Department's view of whether settlement construction violates international law.

What the Post piece implies, but does not spell out, is that this issue is certainly subject to debate - as a recent policy paper authored by Dore Gold cogently articulates.
