HELP TO MAKE U.S. HUMANITARIAN AID TO GAZA CONDITIONED ON THE CESSATION OF ROCKET FIRE March 11, 2009 Please contact the office of Congresswoman Shelley Berkley (D-Nevada) to express support for her letter to Secretary of State Clinton requesting that she condition the promised $900 million in U.S. humanitarian aid for Gaza Palestinians on the cessation of rocket fire on Israel and the release of kidnapped Israeli Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit. Two weeks ago, at a Conference in Egypt, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton promised that the United States would send $900 million worth of Humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza in the aftermath of Israel's three-week incursion into Gaza. The goal of Israel’s incursion was the termination of rocket fire on Southern Israel and the return IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, who has been held hostage by the Gaza regime since June of 2006. While the Israeli incursion severely weekend Hamas in Gaza and significantly limited the rocket fire on Southern Israel, rockets do continue to strike Israel’s southern cities and Gilad Shalit has yet to be released. Please call Congresswoman Shelley Berkley to express support for her position to condition the $900 million in U.S. humanitarian aid for Gaza Palestinians, which she has already pledged to them by Secretary of State Clinton, on the cessation of rocket fire on Israel and the release of kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
