Action Alert: Support NJ School Choice
May 30, 2008
Action Alert

A bill in the NJ State Legislature, S-1607, would create a tuition tax credit program in New Jersey and has already passed the NJ Senate's Economic Growth Committee. Before it can be voted on by the full Senate, it must still be passed by the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee.

This bill is very important to our community, as it will allow parents and children in the most needy communities to have a choice of educational opportunities that will give them the tools they need to succeed. Lower income families would receive scholarships funded by corporate donations who would receive a tax credit from the state. Similar programs in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Rhode Island and Florida, as well as one recently enacted in Georgia have been enormously successful.

We urge you to contact Senators Richard Codey (Senate President) and Barbara Buono (Chair, Budget & Appropriations Committee) and urge them to place S-1607 on the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee immediately.

Tell them that you support S.1607/The NJ Urban Enterprise Zone Jobs Scholarship Act and urge them to post bill for committee vote immediately.
