Israel and Jews across the world face a crisis this Pesach, which Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has referred to as a "war". We ask all of our synagogues and members, in conjunction with the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, to undertake the following steps immediately:

1. The following chapters of Tehillim should be recited daily (according to the custom of each synagogue): 20, 83, 121, 130, and 142.

2. Commencing this Wednesday, April 3, 2002 (the 7th day of Pesach) until Shavuot, as suggested by the Bostoner Rebbe of Har Nof, Israel, each time the Sefer Torah is removed from the Aron Kodesh for Kriat HaTorah, the tefilla "Av HaRachamim Hu Yeracheim Am Amusim" (which is found in the siddur at this point) should be recited aloud responsively.

3. This Motzaei Shabbat (Parshat Shemini - April 6, 2002) all synagogue members - men, women and children - should gather at their local synagogue for Divrei Chizuk V'Hitorrerut (words of inspiration), Maariv and the recitation of Tehillim (especially chapter 144). Various communities throughout Israel will also be joining in this effort.

We are planning a number of initiatives - spiritual, philanthropic, and political - which will be announced after Pesach. May Hashem answer our tefillot l'tova and bring peace to Klal Yisrael in Eretz Yisrael and throughout the world. We pray that the spirit of Achdut and Bitachon will bring about a swift peace and the ultimate redemption.

"V'HaKadosh Baruch Hu matzileinu miyadam" "And Hashem will save us from their hands." (Hagaddah shel Pesach) We hope that Hashem will answer our tefillot and bring peace to Klal Yisrael in Eretz Yisrael and throughout the world.
