ORTHODOX UNION APPLAUDS BRITISH COURT
RULING ON LIBEL CHARGES AGAINST PROFESSOR LIPSTADT
The Union
of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America today applauded the
verdict in the British Courts clearing Professor Deborah Lipstadt of the
false libel charges brought by Holocaust denier David Irving.
Mandell I. Ganchrow, M.D., President of the Orthodox Union said, "
We are profoundly encouraged by this positive verdict which serves as a
resounding rejection of those who would subvert the truth and the annals
of history in the interest of hatred and anti-Semitism. Both
Professor Deborah Lipstadt and her publisher, Penguin Books, deserve
much praise for their courage in standing up to those who seek to deny
the Holocaust or to render it meaningless. The strength of the
truth has prevailed."
