The Orthodox Union thanks CNN International Networks and Newsgathering President Eason Jordan for changing the listing of Jerusalem on the weather page on the CNN website.  Jerusalem is now listed under Israel on the weather website.  We thank CNN on behalf of nearly one thousand OU member synagogues and all our members.  Thank you to all those who contacted CNN to request the correct listing of Jerusalem.

RE:        CNN and Jerusalem

Although Jerusalem is recognized as Israel's capital by the United States Congress, CNN's weather listing on its website lists Jerusalem as a city on its own, totally separated from Israel.  On this weather website, people can click on city names to check weather conditions there.  The list is divided by countries, with the city listed below its country name.  Jerusalem is at the top of the list, attached to no country.  Israel and several of its cities are listed on that page but Jerusalem does not appear in that category.

Please write to CNN International Networks and Newsgathering President Eason Jordan to protest this non-recognition of Israel's sovereignty over Jerusalem, its capital.  In your letter include that United States Public Law 104-45, the Jerusalem Embassy Act, reaffirmed that "Since 1950, the city of Jerusalem has been the capital of the State of Israel."
