Welcome to the OU IPA Action Network

The Institute for Public Affairs of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America has created a new and unique opportunity for effective participation in political decision-making by Jews concerned with issues that affect our community.

Since you will be asked to contact your elected officials only when they are "swing" votes and only on the one or two issues about which you care most deeply, the new Action Network will maximize your impact in the political process.

The IPA Action Network is designed to provide an immediate and coordinated grassroots response just at the point when vital legislation reaches a crucial stage in the legislative process. Action Network members whose representatives and senators are "undecided" on specific legislation will receive concise written background material and will be e-mailed by an IPA liaison to emphasize the importance of a call to their Congresspeople.

The Action Network improves the strength of the IPA's advocacy efforts immeasurably. By becoming an Action Network member, you can translate information into action at critical junctures in the legislative process.

You can make a difference!!

What issues can I choose?

Civil Rights/Civil Liberties Economic Justice Environment Education
Foreign Policy Israel World Jewry Women's Issues

How often will I be e-mailed? You will be contacted only when your representative is a key "swing" vote on urgent legislation - an average of 1 to 3 emails a year.
What will I be asked to do? We will ask you to either call or send a telegram to your senator or representative. This is primarily a phone network designed to respond quickly to key bills.
How much will membership in the Action Network Cost? Nothing. Membership in the Action Network is FREE.
How else can I get involved in the IPA? In addition to the Action Network, you can join our IPA InfoNet. InfoNet offers subscribers several services: legislative and policy updates, IPA policy statements that provide substantive analyses of a broad range of issues and IPA Action alerts to tell you how, when and why to lobby your government officials. IPA InfoNet, together with the IPA Action Network, maximize the impact and effectiveness that our community can have upon public policy in the United States.
