Federal Tax Regulations and Guidance for Synagogues

Politics and the Pulpit 2004: A Guide to the Internal Revenue Restrictions on the Political Activity of Religious Organizations

In July, 2002 the Internal Revenue Service issued a publication offering a summary of and guidance for federal tax laws and regulation relevant to the activities of religious organizations, including synagogues. While neither exhaustive or definitive (in legal terms) the guide is very useful and informative. (Specific questions regarding specific activities should be addressed to a qualified tax attorney.) It can be accessed via the weblink below.
