OPPORTUNITY TO CONNECT with yourself, your neighbor, your Creator CONGREGATION BAIS TORAH PRESENTS Kesher Shabbaton 1998 TORAH AND THE REAL WORLD: HOW ARE THEY COMPATIBLE? HOSTED BY Rabbi Yaacov Haber RABBI OF CONGREGATION BAIS TORAH, MONSEY, NY NATIONAL DIRECTOR OF JEWISH EDUCATION, ORTHODOX UNION AND FOUNDER OF PARDES PROJECT June 19-20, 1998 CONGREGATION BAIS TORAH MONSEY, NY Sponsored by the Orthodox Union and Congregation Bais Torah A wonderful way to spend a weekend... Turn it into Shabbos! Celebrate Shabbos Find New Meaning |
Shabbos is an oasis in time. G-d
rested, therefore we rest. Shabbos is our time. We stop and reflect on life, family and
our world. We take time to contemplate G-d, his people, and how we fit in. Enjoy the stimulation of thought-provoking presentations and the warm fellowship that this weekend will provide. An experience for both heart and mind.
The Issues 1.The Jewish people present a unique phenonmenon. How can we explain the disproportionate amount of attention the State of Israel, the Jewish businessman and Judaism receive? Why do Jews make news? 2. Dress sets some of the religious apart while name and race mark most of the less observant. This is the reality of being a Jew; there is not room for moral dilemmas in confronting what is inevitable. The same cant be said for the choices we make that bring us as individuals and, like it or not, as representatives of all Jews into the glare of the public eye. Inevitably a Jew Stands Out. 3. Your brothers daughter invites you to her intermarriage ceremony and insists that if you dont attend you will be splitting the family and she wont raise her children as Jews. Tolerance. |
Congregation Bais Torah families have opened their homes for this Shabbaton.
They present a beautiful
combination of Torah values, while being fully integrated in the business and professional
world.
