I’m Just Wild About Turkey
It widely accepted that the American domestic turkey is a kosher avian species. But what about the bird known as "the Eastern Wild turkey?" Join Rabbi Chaim Loike, a Rabbinic Coordinator with OU Kashruth widely-recognized for his vast expertise in the kashruth of birds, for a unique discussion of hands-on halachic exploration. Are these two turkeys from the same species? Rabbi Loike discusses the halachic source material, as well as the turkey's encounter Rav Yisroel Belsky, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Torah Vodaath and Senior OU Poseik. You'll be "Giving-thanks" after you hear his talk!

PARENT IS A VERB, with Barry and Chanie Holzer, offers advice on how to be a pro-active parent. Parenting is the most important job we get in life, with the least preparation. Many parents today are afraid to parent, and remain passive in their roles, leaving their children without the strong role models and sense of security that strong parenting provides. Our goal is to guide parents on their journey with insights into themselves and how they are perceived by their children, and a discussion of the opportunities parenting presents, so you can raise your children suffused with love, filled with optimism, and the resilience and strength to fulfill their potential. For questions or comments email Barry and Chanie Holzer at parentisaverb@ou.org. Rabbi Barry Holzer, MD is a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist. Dr. Holzer received his semicha from Rabbi Isaac Elchonon Theological Seminary and his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is the founder of the Center for Attention-Deficit & Behavior Disorders and maintains a practice in Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island. Dr. Holzer is also a co-founder and active board member of NEFESH - The International Organization of Orthodox Jewish Mental Health Professionals. He lectures widely on many topics including ADHD, Asperger's Disorder, Anxiety and Mood Disorders as well as Parenting issues. He has been a frequent speaker for the OU's Positive Parenting Program and a scholar-in-residence at communities across the country. Chanie Holzer, MSW, LCSW is a graduate of the Hunter College School of Social Work with a degree in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Postgraduate Institute in New York City. She has delivered workshops across the country on eating disorders, women's issues, parenting and marital issues. She maintains a busy private practice in Queens and Long Island, NY.
