Yachad Lights Up Broadway With “Oscars” Presentation

Hollywood glamour came to the American Airlines Theatre in Times Square this Monday night, December 5, as an audience of 250 friends and supporters of Yachad enjoyed themselves, with the presentation of “OSCARS” for “leading performances” in support of people with special needs.

“Yachad,” the flagship program of the Orthodox Union’s National Jewish Council for Disabilities (NJCD), provides unique social, educational and recreational programs for individuals with developmental, learning and physical disabilities.

This innovative benefit celebrated the Jewish community’s dedicated individuals who have consistently starred on behalf of Yachad/NJCD.

According to Steven Spira, NJCD National Chairman, “The show was a hit! Yachad members and their families, supporters and friends came together to acknowledge the dedication of several outstanding supporters as well as to celebrate Yachad’s ongoing achievements on behalf of people with disabilities.”

Guests received a “Playbill,” listing the distinguished “Who’s Who” in the cast, along with personalized “advertisements” in honor of the evening’s Oscar winners. Guests were treated to entertainment by Andy Statman, the acclaimed klezmer musician, and Cindy Marvell, known as America’s first lady of juggling.
