Sunday, December
18, 2005
The Israel
Movie Festival with an Edge, which is a fresh and thought
provoking look at Israeli Society through the prism of passion and
identity, will be held at West Side Institutional Synagogue, 120
West 76th Street, from 7:00-9:30 p.m., for singles in their twenties
and thirties.
Registration and light refreshments will be followed by two short
movies, produced by the Maale School of Art in Jerusalem: Birkonim,
a comically bittersweet story of a young architect’s lost love,
healing and renewal; and Eicha, a story of a young girl named Eicha
by her politically idealist parents, who at age eighteen decides to
change her name and establish her own identity. The movies will be
followed by discussions based on questions provided by the
filmmakers.
Admission is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. For advance
reservation, call 212-613-8300 or e-mail
syng@ou.org.

story found in Mr. Neuberger’s best-selling book, about a child of
wealth and privilege who met his future wife at their exclusive prep
school and how they returned together to their ancient Jewish
heritage. A question and answer session will follow, as well as a
signing of Mr. Neuberger’s books, which will be available at the
