New Online Store ShopOU has Much to Offer Jewish Public through Gifts. Music, Tapes and More

Visitors to ShopOU, a new feature on the Orthodox Union website www.ou.org, can now purchase high-quality Judaica for personal use and gifts while at the same time availing themselves of the multitude of other features on the OU website.

At ShopOU shoppers can find a wide variety of items at discount prices made possible by the OU’s buying power. Available categories include books, CDs, cassette tapes, videos, DVDs, posters, and holiday cards, with more to come.

Another category of merchandise is “Yachad Gear,” featuring clothing and other items such as sweatshirts, duffle bags, and mugs from the OU’s Yachad Program for individuals with learning, physical, and developmental disabilities.

All profits from ShopOU go to support programs of the Orthodox Union. Besides the regular discounts, OU members at various levels of membership will also receive special discounts and benefits, such as seasonal promotions, one-time 20 percent discounts on ArtScroll publications, and a $50 coupon for books and publications offered at the OU store.

According to Elly Edelman, OU Executive Director of Operations and Management, ShopOU uses “state-of-the-art commercial credit card software to protect security.” All transactions are reviewed and processed before credit cards are charged, he added.
“The major purpose of ShopOU is to provide benefits and special discounts to OU members,” declared Mr. Edelman. “In addition, when non-OU members visit the website, they will see the tremendous range of services offered by the OU -- everything from candle-lighting times worldwide to commentaries on the weekly Torah portion. Seeing the wealth of OU resources, visitors may then decide to become OU members themselves and thereby qualify for the discounts.”

A wide selection of books is available at ShopOU, including history, philosophy, cookbooks, novels, prayer books, halachah (Jewish law) and works by the late renowned Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan and other distinguished rabbis. Prayer books, such as the “Renov Edition Sabbath and Festivals Siddur” and “Selichot for the Whole Year” can be purchased, as well as Rabbi Yitzchak Kirzner’s “The Art of Jewish Prayer.”

The online store offers music from well known artists such as Avraham Fried, Kol Zimra, the Chevra, and Dudu Fisher just to name a few. Children’s tapes are available as well on ShopOU. Youngsters can find classics such as “Uncle Moishy and the Mitzvah Men” or learn children popular Passover songs from with “Torah Dimensions for Children – Let’s Sing the Seder.”

Recorded sessions from the OU’s highly regarded “Positive Jewish Parenting” programs are available, as well as “The Rav,” tapes about the life and personality of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, as seen through the eyes of Rabbi Aaron Rakeffet-Rothkoff.

ShopOU has a special selection of Passover items for everyone’s spiritual and culinary needs.

Gifts certificates in various denominations are available.

“Shop OU is truly your one-stop online shop for high-quality Judaica,” Mr. Edelman declared.

SHOP OU WEBSITE PROVIDES PASSOVER PRODUCTS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY WITH BOOKS, HAGGADAHS, AND MUSIC

As people are getting ready for Passover, the Orthodox Union’s online store, ShopOU, is there to assist them.

Haggadah treasures offer something for the entire family. Newcomers to the Seder can read “The Survival Kit Family Haggadah” for easy to understand tips and guides to the story of Passover. Children will be eagerly prepared and ready with books such as “Boruch Learns about Pesach” and “Pesach with the Cohen Family.” “The Prince of Egypt Family Passover Haggadah” brings the DreamWorks film to life with pictures from the animated movie.

“Judaism in a Nutshell: Passover” is one in a series of practical guides to the basics of Judaism. For more in-depth knowledge and deeper interpretations of the Seder, “Kos Eliayhu (Elijah’s Cup) -- Insights on the Haggadah and Pesach,” is available.

The “Seelig Art Haggadah,” with its elegant illustrations by Heinz Seelig and English translation by Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan, will certainly become a family treasure.

With special Kosher for Passover restrictions and a wide variety of tastes at the Seder table, preparing food for the holiday can be quite a challenge. For this reason, Shop OU is offering “Kosher by Design,” the ever-popular culinary creative kosher cookbook, that has an entire section on Passover cuisine.

Shoppers who complete all orders over $25 by Friday, April 15, will receive a complimentary copy, while supplies last, of “The Pesach Seder: A Practical Guide,” by Rabbi Label Sharfman.
