Workshop Sessions 9:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.

As part of its ongoing ParnossahWorks job placement initiative, the Orthodox Union, in conjunction with FEGS Health and Human Services and Lincoln Square Synagogue, will present two free career employment workshops on Wednesday, December 14 in Manhattan.

As of today, more than 800 persons have enrolled in the ParnossahWorks program, and more than 180 have found jobs, 100 of them since July.

The workshops, How to Be Your Own Recruiter: Making Head-Hunting Techniques Work for You, and Networking: the Key to the Hidden Job Market, will be held at the synagogue, 200 Amsterdam Avenue. Workshops will be held from 9:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., with doors opening at 9:00 a.m.

ParnossahWorks is a joint project of the OU and FEGS, created for the Orthodox and Jewish community at large, with OU synagogues in the Tri-State area serving as a network for the project. It is a unique placement service that combines state of the art technology with career counseling and assistance by trained FEGS staff.

How to Be Your Own Recruiter: Making Head-Hunting Techniques Work for You will give job hunters an insider’s view of recruiters and the recruiting process. It will teach them how to apply these techniques to their own job search as well as how to maximize the benefits of working with an executive recruiter.

Networking: the Key to the Hidden Job Market will reveal how to tap into the hidden job market and practice networking techniques. “You will leave with at least three new contacts to help you in your job search,” OU and FEGS promise. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet personally with the ParnossahWorks staff at the conclusion of the workshops to discuss their employment needs.

The OU and FEGS have successfully presented similar workshops at OU Manhattan headquarters in April; at the Young Israel of Woodmere in June; the Kingsway Jewish Center in Brooklyn in September; and Congregation Bnei Yeshurun in Teaneck in November. “These were very well received and we are continuing our efforts to make our workshops accessible by bringing them out into the community,” said OU ParnossahWorks Project Director, Sheldon Miller.
