Adds Discounts to Other Benefits
as Reward to Members
for Supporting Organization’s Vital Work
Membership in the Orthodox Union
is now about to become even more valuable with the introduction of new
rewards for those who take on a commitment to support the organization
through personal affiliation.
By presenting a brand new OU Membership Card, now being introduced,
members are eligible for discounts at Judaica stores, restaurants and
other merchants nationwide, with the list of businesses accepting the
card growing steadily. This is in addition to other incentives to join
already in place.
“These benefits are our way of celebrating the pride we feel towards our
members, especially for their support of the OU’s crucial programs. This
takes the satisfaction of belonging to the OU to an exciting new level
and connects each individual member to the Jewish people throughout the
world,” explained OU President Stephen J. Savitsky.
OU members will be able to check the organization’s website at
www.ou.org to see the list of merchants
offering the discount. Merchants will also be able to display a decal
identifying themselves as participants in the OU program.
In addition to these discounts, OU members are entitled to participation
in a comprehensive and cost-saving group insurance program, which
includes accident protection, catastrophic major medical, disability,
long-term care, Medicare supplement and term life coverage.
OU membership ranges from $54 to $5,000 and over, with each level
qualifying for additional benefits.
Besides the merchant discounts and insurance program, all levels of
membership receive the award winning OU quarterly magazine Jewish
Action; membership discounts for all OU programs; as well as other
seasonal promotions and discounts available at ShopOU on the OU website,
www.ou.org. Higher levels of membership receive special newsletters and
briefings; complimentary participation in the OU’s annual Mission to
Washington; and other rewards.
The ultimate benefit to OU membership and carrying the new OU Membership
Card, Mr. Savitsky makes clear, is the knowledge that membership
provides active support of essential programs that enrich the lives of
Jewish children and adults every day. These include the
National Conference of Synagogue Youth;
Yachad/National Jewish
Council for the Disabled;
Jewish Learning Initiative
on Campus; the Institute for Public Affairs;
kiruv (outreach) programs in the North America, Israel, and the Ukraine,
plus many more – affecting generations of grateful Jews worldwide.
